LONDON PIRATE RADIO DOCUMENTARY

This is a really interesting documentary, so if you got 15mins to spare then I suggest you use it to watch this and educate your self about the pirate radio scene.

ERYKAH BADU: WINDOW SEAT VIDEO

I was lucky enough to go to Erykah's listening party for her new album 'New Amerykah, Part 2: Return of the Ankh last week and what more to say than the album is what I expected... DOPE!
It features the likes of Madlib, Questlove, Karieem Riggins, Georgia Ann Muldrow and the late J.Dilla.

Erykah is an incredibly special and unique artist that I have been a fan of for many years and am so pleased that the album is now finished and has been released today!!!!

Make sure to go and buy your copy, trust me you wont be disappointed!

ALEX YOUNG

My friend Alex is an incredible artist and he has a show coming up next week, starting on the 1st of April in the London Miles Gallery.

The show is called 'Portraits of alter egos' and features paintings of a variety different people including burlesque dancers, heavy metal guitarists and a Dj (me!). His work is amazing so if you get the chance go and check it out. You can also see more of his work here.

This is one of his portraits (not me!).

MARY KATRANTZOU

Mary Katrantzou is one of my favourite fashion designers, I love the way she designs her prints. Maybe because I am immediately attracted the graphic prints but either way I love the symmetry and consistency of her work. She graduated from Central Saint Martins two years ago and has been designing beautiful collections ever since. This collection is actually A/W 09 but I still love it!

This is some of her more recent stuff A/W 10/11, it's a lot darker than her previous work but i'm still really feeling it. It's inspired by 18th century portraiture and artists such as Fragonard and Madame de Pompadour....

SWAMP 81

Really feeling the swamp 81 tunes at the mo....

ATG DO ONE ANTHEM!!!!

Hold tight for my dubstep remix coming soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FOOTCRAB

So it would seem this is the biggest tune on road right now. I have heard it played out twice this week, once at FWD & once at Fabric last night not to mention the radio time it's been receiving... I can't publicly say who Addison Grove is but if you do your research on Dubstep forum it's not that hard to find out. The second half of this tune I reckon will end up being the B side to the track, it's called Dumb Shit.

Check the video below of a real Foot Crab skank! Probably the most insane dance I have ever seen!

I AM IN ♥ WITH ELECTRIC WIRE HUSTLE

This band is amazing and I can't wait for them to come back to the UK this summer, Benji's been playing some of their tunes on 1Xtra and they deserve all the support they've had.

They're from New Zealand and their drummer Myele was one of the participants on this year's RBMA and I've over heard people saying he's the best drummer they've ever had on the academy not to mention all the other members in the band who are extraordinarily talented... I bought their album "Electric Wire Hustle" yesterday and have had it on repeat ever since.

ILLUM SPHERE

Since hanging out at the Rbma i've met some really cool producers and one of them being
Illum Sphere who played for us last week at Deviation. Recently he's been doing remixes for likes of Martyn and has done his own version of the OM Unit tune 'Lightgrids' (which is one of my fave tunes right now).

As well as being a really dope producer he also runs one of Manchester's most well respected club nights called Hoya Hoya. He has a great vision and i'm backing him all the way! Check out some of the videos below:

This is the Samiyam remix but the original is too much! Might start opening up my sets with it...

M.F DOOM AND MORE

The past week has been full of some really amazing events due to the RBMA being in town. After Deviation on Wednesday it was off to the Roller Disco in Vauxhall where Moodyman was spinning which was probably one of the best nights i've had in a long time! Then after another late night it was already Friday and another day/night full of loads more great parties!
After popping into the Academy at noon to check the Moodyman interview it was already past 8pm and time to get home get changed and get to the Roundhouse to see MF Doom. This was his first ever UK performance and tbh not really sure what to report back.... The fact he turned up was enough for me but the sound was terrible and the performance didn't seem to last that long. Was ok. After the Doom show it was off to Brixton to go and check the DMZ boys tear up Mass. Pure mosh pits and loads of guys, but was a wicked night and saw a lot of faces i haven't seen for a while. Bought my %th Birthday tee and everything! Big up to Mala every time, and i think the best set of the night came from Quest. Oh and Joy Orbison bought it in the battle with Oneman.

Sorry for lack of photos but did manage to get a few of the Doom show...
